For the word of the LORD is right and true; He is faithful in all He does. The LORD loves righteousness and justice; the earth is full of his unfailing love. (Psalms 33:4-5)
A package arrived in the mail days later than expected, even though we had been given a specific date for delivery. Fortunately, the effects were not significant, but the delay made me thankful that God honours His commitments. What He says He will do, He will do. “He is faithful in all He does”.
When someone gives us their word, we expect them to honour it, but often we end up facing disappointment. When God gives His word, He stands by it. His word is always “ right and true”. Life gets challenging at times, but as difficult as circumstances may appear, we have the assurance that He “neither slumbers nor sleeps”. He will fulfill what He has promised. “He is faithful in all He does”.
Have you given Him your word? Have you promised to do something that you have somehow forgotten about? Sometimes we make commitments out of habit. We promise to call, or promise to pray for someone, or promise to visit with someone who is sick or shut-in, then life gets busy and we forget to do what we pledged. Someone may be waiting for an answer that He can fulfill through our hands and hearts today. Are you up to the task?
Inventory / Introspection: What commitment have I forgotten/neglected to fulfill?
Personal application: Am I willing to allow Him to teach me to be faithful in all I do?
Father, I am thankful for your unfailing love and your everlasting faithfulness. My soul rejoices in You, the Lover or my soul and the One whose faithfulness knows no end. I am thankful that you love righteousness and justice and that Your keep your word.
I pray You will examine my heart and thought today and see whether I have any unfinished business in the form of commitments I have made and have not honoured, and that You would open my eyes to what I need to take care of.
As I go about my daily living, and as I see the needs of those around, I pray You will help me to make wise decisions as to how I should use my time, talents and all I am for Your glory. Thank You for showing us the true meaning of commitment as we contemplate the birth of the Christ-child and the Greatest Gift ever offered to man.
May Your name be glorified as we live in service to others.
Amen
Blessings,
ann

Thank you, Ann full of Jesus grace, joy and song. This one caught me by surprise and I am praying and asking and will wait to see. I get so eager to help, to commit, but I can’t do as much as I would want to. Need to think about that before I commit and let Him guide me to the things that I can do as I said I would.
God bless you as you gently keep us seeking, asking and humble before our God and King.

God bless you, Dearest Delightful Deb,
“I get so eager to help, to commit, but I can’t do as much as I would want to. Need to think about that before I commit and let Him guide me to the things that I can do as I said I would.”
I can so relate 🙂 My heart breaks for those in need and like you, I want to do so much, but the reality is that we are finite human and limited in our abilities. It is important that I learn to let Him lead.
Praying He will give you peace about the circumstances you need to act on, and the wisdom to walk away from the others. May His name be glorified.
Blessings much.

Hello my friend, this is truly a good reminder that we should keep our word,I know I’m guilty of saying I’ll be praying ,then find that I’ve forgotten “ouch”! But God never does forget us and I am so grateful for His great faithfulness.Wonderful encouragement ” Life gets challenging at times, but as difficult as circumstances may appear, we have the assurance that He “neither slumbers nor sleeps”. He will fulfill what He has promised. “He is faithful in all He does”. These promises are such a blessing to me as I wait.I’m now getting your post in my email again.
Love you 😀 😀

Hi Sister Pat,
May our God reward your faithfulness. Hope you are having a better day today 🙂
It’s interesting that we want to do so much for Him but we are limited in our abilities. I used to feel really guilty if I didn’t help someone in need, but it is clearer to me now that He doesn’t expect me to fix everything 🙂 A dear friend lovingly pointed out that He knows our limitation and He won’t give us more than what we can bear. I used to think of that in terms of trials … I never thought about it in terms of my desire / ability to serve others. 😉
God bless you as you trust His promises. May you hear with clarity the directions He speaks to you as you seek to minister His love to others.
Blessings,

Hi Ann,
Like Debbie, I don’t come close to being able to do those things I would want to do, in service to others. I praise God for the opportunities to help those in need, which I am able to fulfill. I know I fall short of being faithful to all I commit to, but I praise God for His faithfulness unto me, to forgive when I do fall short. Thank you for instilling in me, the desire to want to do better in this area.
Thank you for the prayer! God bless you, as you live in service to others, for His glory!

Bless His name, Minister
“I praise God for the opportunities to help those in need, which I am able to fulfill.”
Thanks for popping in with your praising approach 🙂 I am learning to trust that when He sends an opportunity, He will provide the tools to respond. In the meantime, I will continue to praise Him for the opportunities.
We’re all learning together to use what we have for His glory. How cool is that?!
Blessings right back at ya!

I love this Ann! As a minister I struggle with making commitments with my time that are beyond my ability to keep. So often in order to mollify people I say “yes” to things I should not. Then I end up breaking the commitment because it becomes impossible. I am learning to say “no” to many things these days.

Hi Pastor J,
so sorry for the delay in responding. I was swamped!
“I am learning to say “no” to many things these days.”
I know how this feels 🙂 Praying He will give you the wisdom to make the right decisions.

I’m ashamed of myself. I feast on a steady diet of making promises then backing out. I am aware of what the Bible says (because people I bail out on always remind me). Sometimes I confess it and other times I back out of that, too.
For me, it’s a matter of selfishness. Whatever I feel like doing instead of keeping a promise (blog) is what almost always wins out. I’m glad you brought this up because it has affected my heart, and I will remember this, even if it means not promising at all.
Thanks, Ann. Hope all is well with you… : )

Hello Dear Linda,
I hear your heart. As Deb says, the desire to help often causes us to accept challenges that push us beyond our limits.
Praying He will give you confirmation in your heart so you will know when to say yes and when to walk away. May His name be glorified in all you do.
Blessings to you and thanks much for checking in. I am approaching the home stretch now. Next week this time I will be celebrating 🙂
Waiting on His timing,
Ann

This is an issue that has been important to me ever since I first became a mother.I wanted my children to trust the Lord and know that He keeps His promises I also knew that He holds many titles that help us to understand His nature. The one we think of most often is our “Heavenly Father”. There are even a couple verses that compare Him to a mother.
With that in mind, I didn’t want my kids to say, “God is like a parent. So what? I had parents that let me down, so if He is like a parent, then why should I trust Him to come through for me.?”So from the time they were old enough to verbally ask a question about what we might do in a week, a day, or even in an hour I was careful to answer, “We’ll see.” Then I did my best do grant those requests of theirs as often as possible (and within reason…didn’t want to spoil them…too much) so that they would know that they mattered very much to me.. I also applied that to other people, too… with family, friends, employers, at church, in my community. This passage of scipture profoundly affected me:
“13Go to now, ye that say, To day or to morrow we will go into such a city, and continue there a year, and buy and sell, and get gain:
14Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away.
15For that ye ought to say, If the Lord will, we shall live, and do this, or that.
16But now ye rejoice in your boastings: all such rejoicing is evil.
17Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin.” James 4:13-17
Blessings,
Theresa

God bless you, Dear Theresa
What wonderful principles to instill in your children, and to live out in your own life. 🙂 May God reward your faithfulness.
Thank you for sharing that passage with us. This verse jumped at me ‘Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin.’ … My word. That is quite plain. We are without excuse if we choose to do otherwise.
Praying we will be tuned to what He has to say, and that we will trust Him, knowing that He will fulfil His promises towards us. Thank you for sharing, Theresa. May His name be glorified.
Blessings

Dearest Deb,
Thank you for being His messenger tonight. I just uploaded tomorrow’s post and felt the urge to visit with Linda after I replied to Theresa. When I opened the post to respond to Theresa, I saw this note from you. I do not believe in coincidences. I will trust His hand in this one.
Father, may You be glorified in these circumstances. I cannot understand why You allow some things to happen, but I trust that whatever You do is good. I pray that Your peace would fall upon Linda, her beloved and those affected by this situation. You know the prayer of her heart for his soul. I pray that while You take him through the physical healing process, You will provide the opportunity and the boldness for Linda to share what You have placed in her heart. I pray that through this, lives will be born for Your kingdom, and that You will be glorified in everything that concerns them. We trust You to accomplish Your purpose in this situation.
May Your grace and peace flood Linda’s heart and mind so that those around her will see You in her. You saw the incidents leading up to this accident, yet You allowed it to happen for a reason. May his healing be swift, and may Your name and Your name alone be glorified in and through this.
Thank You for hearing and answering our prayers.
Amen.

It is a privilege indeed, Theresa.
Thanks to technology, we can ‘gather’ in two’s and three’s even though we’re miles apart…. It truly is great to be able to go to Him this way.
Let’s keep praying for each other.
Blessings,
ann
