Praise the LORD. Praise, O servants of the LORD, praise the name of the LORD. Let the name of the LORD be praised, both now and forevermore. From the rising of the sun to the place where it sets, the name of the LORD is to be praised.

The LORD is exalted over all the nations, his glory above the heavens. Who is like the LORD our God, the One who sits enthroned on high, who stoops down to look on the heavens and the earth?

He raises the poor from the dust and lifts the needy from the ash heap; he seats them with princes, with the princes of their people.
He settles the barren woman in her home as a happy mother of children.

Praise the LORD.  (Psalm 113)

Are you up to the “Rise with a praise, rest with a praise…” challenge?  For the next seven days, can you challenge yourself to start and end each day with a praise to the Lord our God?

The examples in Psalm 113 cover many reasons for us to praise our Lord. He is to be praised ‘just because’. He is to be praised from sunrise to sunset. He is to be praised because He is exalted. He is to be praised because He cares about our physical and social states in life… He is “enthroned on high”, yet He cares enough to stoop down. He raises up the poor and the needy and He makes the barren woman a happy mother of children!

What is the need in your heart? Food? Clothing? Shelter? Relationships? How about offering Him a praise? If you don’t have a need tonight, that in itself is reason to praise Him.

Praise belongs to God. He is more than deserving of the best that we can give. Praise ye the Lord!

Personal application: I will challenge myself to speak at least one praise to Him every day for the next seven days. I will praise, not because I want a breakthrough, but because He must be praised.

Inventory/ Introspection: When was the last time I praised Him ‘just because’?

Father I praise Your holy name! There is absolutely none like You. All honour, glory and praise be to You, O Great God. You alone are worthy to be exalted and lifted high.

Let Your praise flow from my lips from the “rising of the sun until it’s going down.” I choose to praise You for no other reason except that You deserve to be praised.

Praise is contagious.  Great things can happen when we come together to give You praise. Help us to seize the opportunities for corporate celebrations, but help us to find time in our own moments to shower praise and adoration upon You.

May the thanksgiving in our hearts overflow into praises from our lips.
