Many nations around the world are experiencing changes and uncertainty, yet in the midst of all we face, God remains constant!

For this week’s post, I have put together a collection of verses and prayers that we can reflect on to remind us that the Word of God remains true, and that we can stand on the authority of the God who never fails. If you can, please join with us in praying through these issues this week. [ Please know that this list of little things is by no means exhaustive – feel free to add.  The intention was to go to thirty items, but that would have made for a very long post!  🙂 ]

Day 1 – Leadership and Authority

Let everyone be subject to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God. Consequently, whoever rebels against the authority is rebelling against what God has instituted, and those who do so will bring judgment on themselves. (Romans 13 :1-2)

Lord, Your word says that all authority comes from You. We may not always understand the way authority operates, but we are thankful that You are the ultimate authority. Help us to submit in Christian love to those you have placed in authority. May we also be mutually respectful as we lead by example those You have given us the privilege of guiding and mentoring. We purpose in our hearts to allow You to order our steps.

Day 2-  Children

Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old, he will not depart from it. (Proverbs 22: King James Version – KJV)

Father we are thankful for the children You have placed in our lives. Help us to love and care for them according to Your directions. We entrust them fully to You, and we ask You to protect and keep them safe. Help us to offer loving discipline and generous commendations as we help them to become the best that they can be. We release them into Your hands as we trust You to take care of what concerns them.

Day 3 – Parents, Guardians and Mentors

Children, obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right. Honour thy father and mother; which is the first commandment with promise; That it may be well with thee, and thou mayest live long on the earth. And, ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath: but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord. (Ephesians 6:1-4 KJV)

Lord, we are thankful for life. We are grateful for those You chose to parent us. We did not get to choose our heritage, but we get to decide whether or not we honour and respect them. Help us to live earthly examples of our spiritual relationship with You. We celebrate those who have mentored and encouraged us. May we also be good parents and mentors to those you have placed in our lives.

Day 4 – Marriages

Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh. (Genesis 2:24)

Father, we believe that marriage is Your design. We believe that You are able to keep what we commit to You. We pray that You will bless and strengthen marriages to the glory and honour of Your name. Help us take directives from You and to walk in Your truth.

Day 5 – Relationships

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. (John 3:16)

… if you are offering your gift at the altar and there remember that your brother or sister has something against you, leave your gift there in front of the altar. First go and be reconciled to them; then come and offer your gift. (St Matthew 5:23-24)

Loving Father, Your very nature is love. You gave us the gift of Salvation so our relationship with You would be mended. We sometimes suffer pain and hurt, or cause others to suffer pain and hurt. We release those who have hurt us, and we ask humbly for Your forgiveness for the discomfort we have caused others. Help us to speak encouraging words, to be quick to forgive, and to go the extra mile to love those You have placed in our lives.

Day 6 – Financial Matters

Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously. Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.  (2 Corinthians 9:6-8)

Papa, we want to be able to meet our obligations and help meet the needs of those around us. We thank You for satisfying our needs. May we continue to trust Your hands in the moments when we don’t see a way out. You provide for sparrows… We are also Yours!!

Day 7 – Salvation

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. (John 3:16-17)

Father, we are grateful that salvation is freely offered to ‘whosoever will’. We desire relationship with You … You are our Light and Salvation. May we seek a higher, deeper place in You, even as time draws to a close. We look forward to Your return!

Inventory/Introspection:How can I share ‘little’ blessings with others?

Personal Application: My God is the same yesterday, today and forever. His Word never changes. His love never changes. He gives new mercies each morning. I will give Him thanks for these ‘little’ things and more!
